WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS IS EITHER NOT TRUE,
OR DOES NOT WORK LONG TERM, Why?
- “It’s all about counting calorie in and calories out” – NOT TRUE!
- “Eat less and lose weight” – NOT TRUE!
- “Exercise harder, longer, more often to burn calories” – NOT TRUE!
- ‘Eat a high protein, low carbohydrate diet to lose weight long term” – NOT TRUE!
- “Eat a high carbohydrate, low protein diet to lose weight long term” – NOT TRUE!
- “Eat a low fat diet to lose weight” – NOT TRUE!
WHO DO YOU BELIEVE? WHAT IS THE TRUTH? WHERE IS THE SCIENCE TO BACK THIS UP?
LOOK AROUND YOU,
THE FOOD COMPANIES GET RICHER,
THE PHARACEUTICLE COMPANIES GET RICHER,
BUT WE ALL GET FATTER, SICKER, AND POORER –
COULD IT ALL BOIL DOWN TO –
POWER, PROFIT AND POLITICS?
ASK YOURSELF
Are You The Author Of Your Life? Or A Character In Someone Else’s Novel?
Here are thoughts to consider when choosing a weight-loss program –
DIETS DON’T WORK!
If you truly want to lose weight and regain your health you must change your thinking and change your lifestyle! Here’s why.
- It is never as simple as calories in, and calories out! For example if you consume 100 calories in the form of cola or sodas your blood glucose immediately rises which triggers the release of the hormone insulin. Insulin has two jobs, one is to accommodate the transfer of glucose from the blood into your cells where the glucose is used to give you energy to handle your daily tasks, once the cells have all the energy they need, insulin’s second job is to store the remaining glucose in your fat cells so it can be retrieved at a later time when more energy is needed. But most of us overeat; we consume more calories than we really need, so we are continually storing the excess calories in the form of glucose into our fat cells.
If we were to consume 100 calories of beans or legumes the fiber in these foods digests slowly and do not trigger the insulin release. The fiber helps clean and detoxify your intestinal tract; it stimulates bowel movements and improves digestion.
- Eating less is a self-defeating process. Your thyroid gland controls your metabolism, how quickly you use and burn energy is a function of your thyroid hormones and their response to your food intake. When you start to reduce your food intake the thyroid slows down the metabolism to conserve energy; the more you reduce what you eat, the slower the thyroid will function. This is a protective mechanism to guard against starvation.
- Exercise is very important, but exercising harder, longer, or more frequently will not bring you the long term weight loss success you are looking for, unless you’re eating and lifestyle is in balance. Excessive exercise can reduce your energy reserves, increase stress, reduce your hormone balance and lower your immune system. Exercise is helpful, but it must be done as an integrated lifestyle plan. More exercise is not always more helpful.
- Eat a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Many people have tried this diet and lost weight, the big problem is your body begins to crave what is missing from your diet and when you go back to your normal diet you gain all the weight back, plus additional weight you did not want.
- Eat a high carbohydrate low protein diet. Again this diet may work for some people for a certain period of time, but often it may trigger allergies or cravings that lead us back to our normal diet and increased weight gain.
- Eat a low fat, high carbohydrate diet. In 1955 it was thought that high fat in the diet caused high cholesterol, and that led to the conclusion that high fat and high cholesterol were responsible for the increasing rate of heart attacks and stroke. So the powers that be suggested we stop eating eggs, reduce or eliminate meat consumption and switch to vegetable oils rather than cooking with butter or lard. There was little or no scientific research in this assumption, but the idea caught on fast and the corn and vegetable industries exploded with highly process vegetable oils, trans fats, and margarine and modified corn syrup. Now fifty years later, are we any healthier? Absolutely not, we now have the highest overweight and obesity epidemic in history. We have the highest rate of type II diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Our risk of getting cancer in our lifetime is one out of every two men, and one out of every three for women. Autism now occurs, one in 59 births. Attention deficit disorder in children is a major health risk. We are in the middle of a medical/health disaster, and what do the food manufacturers do they add more sugar, salt, or fat, along with preservatives, texturizers, and artificial colors and flavors. At this point our health goes down, our weight goes up. It’s too much to take so we sit down on the couch, turn on the TV and watch an advertisement for the 3000 calorie hamburger with two meat patties, three kinds of cheese with bacon and a cola drink. If you change channels you will see advertisements from the pharmaceutical industry telling you about how to solve your heart burn, or lower your cholesterol. The pharmaceutical companies and the food industries have the highest advertising budget of any other business, by far! Do you think for a minute they have an interest in your health or losing weight? The more you eat and the sicker you are the more profit they make. So ask yourself . . .
